Appena venuto a conoscenza di quanto accaduto ai turisti giapponesi all’Osteria da Luca, in San Marco 4951, il sindaco di Venezia, Luigi Brugnaro, ha immediatamente dato mandato alla Polizia Locale di avviare una dettagliata attività investigativa per fare la massima chiarezza sui fatti accaduti.

“Al termine delle indagini - ha dichiarato il sindaco - saranno valutate tutte le azioni per la tutela dell'immagine della Città. Siamo attenti da sempre alla promozione di un turismo sostenibile, ma non possiamo tollerare tali comportamenti individuali, che mettono in cattiva luce una consolidata tradizione di ospitalità di Venezia. Ci sono centinaia di esercizi pubblici solo nella Città antica, dobbiamo difendere il buon nome di chi si comporta correttamente, rispettando le regole e proponendo una ristorazione di qualità”.

Martedì 23 gennaio, al mattino, un nucleo della Polizia Locale, congiuntamente con il SIAN (Servizio Igiene Alimenti e Nutrizione) dell'Ulss 3 Serenissima e i NAS dei Carabinieri di Treviso, si è recato presso l'Osteria da Luca, dove sono state accertate e contestate una serie di violazioni che porteranno a sanzioni per migliaia di euro.

Sempre martedì, verso le ore 14, è stata sentita anche la guida turistica autorizzata di lingua giapponese, la quale ha contribuito alla ricostruzione dei fatti accaduti il 5 dicembre scorso.

“Gli accertamenti di questi giorni, che hanno rilevato una serie di irregolarità, sia amministrative che igienico-sanitarie, - ha spiegato la direttrice dei Servizi al Cittadino e Imprese del Comune di Venezia, Stefania Battaggia - daranno seguito anche alle previste sanzioni accessorie, tra le quali la temporanea chiusura dell'esercizio, mentre altri provvedimenti riguarderanno l'obbligo di ripristinare i requisiti organizzativi e strutturali carenti. Gli stessi uffici attendono la conclusione degli accertamenti per le violazioni amministrative, rimanendo a disposizione nel caso in cui vi fossero rilevi di maggior gravità, anche penale”.

“Invitiamo tutti, dai residenti agli ospiti della città, - ha concluso il sindaco – a denunciare tempestivamente agli organi di Polizia di Stato o Polizia Locale o Carabinieri o Guardia di Finanza comportamenti illegittimi da parte di esercenti o di chiunque altro a tutela sia dei consumatori, sia della stragrande maggioranza degli operatori che svolgono il proprio lavoro in maniera professionale e nel pieno rispetto delle regole. A Venezia l’ospitalità è sacra: puniremo questi disonesti, difendendo in ogni modo l'immagine della città."

As soon as he was informed of what occurred to some Japanese tourists at the “Osteria da Luca”, in San Marco 4951, the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, immediately asked the Local Police to start an accurate investigation to clear up the case.

“Once investigations are over, we'll see what actions we can undertake to defend the good name of Venice - Mr Brugnaro said -. We've always been fostering sustainable tourism and we cannot bear that behaviours like these put Venice's traditional hospitality under a bad light. There are hundreds of restaurants in the historic city alone and we must defend the good name of those behaving honestly, respecting the rules and offering high quality food”.

On Tuesday morning, January 23rd, a unit of the City’s Local Police, jointly with Food Hygiene and Nutrition Team of the Local Health Authority and the Carabinieri Food Fraud Team (NAS), went for an inspection to the Osteria da Luca, in San Marco 4951, where they ascertained and challenged a series of violations which were formally notified and will be charged thousands of euros.

Also on Tuesday, around 2.00 pm, the Japanese-language licensed tour guide, who contributed to the reconstruction of the events that took place on 5 December 2017, was also heard.

“The investigations of the last days revealed a series of different irregularities, of both administrative and hygienic-sanitary nature, which will not only be fined, but also punished with a temporary closure injunction”, explained Ms Stefania Battaggia, Head of the City Dept. of Services for Citizens and Business. Further measures will concern the obligation to restore deficient organizational and structural requirements. The same offices await the conclusion of the investigations related to the  administrative violations, remaining available in case these were more serious, even penal".

"We invite everyone, from residents to guests of the city - Mayor Brugnaro said - to promptly report any illegal behavior to Local or State Police agents, Carabinieri or to the Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza), in order to protect consumers, but also the large majority of restaurants that are being professional and in full compliance with the rules. Hospitality in Venice is sacred: we will punish these dishonest people, defending the image of the city in every way".
